1 Health Information Science Student’s attitude and perception towards Bachelor of Science in HIS at University of Dodoma, Tanzania. Rajabu M. Simba Bachelor of Science in Health Information Science-Student, University of Dodoma, Tanzania Email; rajabsimba338@gmail.com Abstract Student’s assessment in Health Information Science program is critical to identify the interest, intention and perception. Measuring student’s satisfaction and analyzing their attitudes toward revised curriculum of Health Information Science. Purpose: Assessments of perception and attitude of Health Information science students toward Bachelor of Science in HIS. Methods: A cross-sectional study using a web based questionnaire and requested to complete the questionnaire on a voluntary basis distributed via Twitter, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Result: a total of (N = 200 out of 250) participants, Male and Female, with background level of study (Diploma, form six and Bachelor) were involved in the study. Among the total number of participants (200), male participants (135) were higher than female participants (65). Furthermore, majority (97.5%; 195 of 200) of students were interested and 2.5% were not interested, 3.5% (7 of 200) of students reported that they would take a program of Health Information Science during their ordinary diploma level and 96.5% of students reported they were from form six level and other diploma programs. Approximately 99% (198 of 200) of student’s perceived Health Information Science learning as useful and 1% of students perceived as not useful, Approximately 90% (180 of 200) of students had the intention to enroll in the Bachelor of Science in HIS program and 10% of students had no intention. Conclusion: Nationally health information science education faces several challenges that faced students; required actions to promote roles and responsibilities of Health Information Personnel to the stakeholders like community, NGO and Healthcare facilities in order to achieve employment opportunity to the graduates.
