Social dimension and historiographical transcendence as a legislative source for the study of Eucharist Art Javier González Torres Fundación Victoria-Universidad de Málaga javier.gonzalez@fundacionvictoria.edu.es RESUMEN: La poderosa autoridad moral, política e instrumentalizadora que el estamento ecle- siástico ejerce sobre la creación artística del Barroco en el territorio español en general y, de modo particular, en tierras andaluzas, se advierte de manera notable en cada uno de los textos jurídicos publicados por los diferentes obispados; documentos surgidos a partir de la adaptación de éstos al espíritu de las actas del Concilio de Trento. El desarrollo e implementación de estas direc- trices a través de la obligada celebración de los sínodos diocesanos tiene como consecuencia la elaboración y promulgación de las llamadas Constituciones sinodales, las cuales constituyen y configuran la norma eclesiástica que reglamenta la actividad de las Iglesias particulares al amparo de la doctrina superior. ABSTRACT: The powerful, political and manipulative morals that the ecclesiastical stratum exercised over art during the Baroque period in Spain in general, and particularly in Andalusia, reveals itself through the study of the legal texts published by different bishoprics. Said documents were adapted to meet the regulations established by the Council of Trent. The development and implementation of these regulations through the mandatory celebrations of synods, led to the elaboration and promulgation of the so-called ‘Synod Constitutions’, thus keeping every individual diocese under the shelter of a superior doctrine.
