This study describes the Secretariat's role in supporting the functions of the Regional House of Representatives and taking location at the Nias Regency House of Representatives, using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Sources of data and participants comprised the Speaker and Members, the Secretary of the Regional House of Representatives, and several state civil apparatuses. Data were collected using semi-structured interview techniques and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The study results show that the Secretariat's role in supporting the implementation of the duties and functions of the Nias Regency House of Representatives has not been fully implemented optimally. It is due to limited human resources, lack of facilities and budget, and ineffective coordination and communication. Therefore, to meet the demands of the Regional House of Representatives increasingly high-performance standards, it is necessary to increase personnel resources using scientific and technological developments and develop a solid work team. The Secretariat of the Regional House of Representative must also optimize the availability of facilities and infrastructure and institutional development to support the implementation of the duties and functions of the Regional House of Representative, including developing a harmonious relationship to provide services and support in channeling community aspirations. Keywords: secretariat’s role, regional house of representative, Nias regency Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan peranan Sekretariat DPRD dalam mendukung fungsi DPRD Kabupaten Nias. Mengambil lokasi di Kantor Sekretariat DPRD Kabupaten Nias, serta menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data partisipan penelitian terdiri dari unsur Pimpinan dan Anggota DPRD, Sekretaris Dewan dan pegawai Sekretariat. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara semi terstruktur dan dianalisis dengan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa peranan Sekretariat DPRD dalam mendukung pelaksanaan tugas dan fungsi DPRD Kabupaten Nias belum sepenuhnya berjalan secara optimal. Hal ini disebabkan oleh keterbatasan sumber daya manusia, minimnya sarana dan anggaran, serta koordinansi dan komunikasi yang kurang efektif. Karena itu, untuk memenuhi tuntutan standar kinerja DPRD yang semakin tinggi perlu melakukan peningkatan sumber daya aparatur melalui pemanfaatan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi serta
